monkeycrap's Diaryland Diary

live in the moment, not for the moment.

Music: 3 doors down-Here without you

Music that's still stuck in my head: Tal Bachman-She's so high. Damn.

3 days into my one week break. I'll give a very narrative narrative about my past 2 days.

Day one, Monday, 29th Mar 2004

Reveille at 8.30 am, did a little tidying up of my room, dumped away all my textbooks and notes, in a vain effort to destroy all that remains of the A levels. Wanted to burn all of them in a bonfire, a la shaman ritual, but decided against it after realising that the neighbours wouldn't be too happy bout it, and that if i were to do it in the park downstairs, people might report me to the religious authority for making satanic offerings to the cambridge god.

Went down to Centrepoint to meet dad, to get my birthday present, a Sony Attract3plus MP3/CD walkman. Love it. He had to leave for work, so i was left walking around centrepoint. A little nostalgic trip down memory lane, cos i used to frequent that mall a lot when i was younger. Visited Times bookshop, to check out new releases and record their titles on my handphone in order to go search for them in the library. Hey, i'm Singaporean too. Thought i saw someone i know, but didn't manage to say hi because of the general i-have-nothing-much-to-say-to-you-ness, and diminished self-esteem. Hence walked towards the mrt.

Heard my name being called from behind. Turned around and saw mamemoo. No kidding. (Before i continue, for the benefit of those in oblivion, a mamemoo is a shapeshifting green cow with large udders, which, not unlike pikachu, can only spout the words mamemoo, which is most likely its name. His only friend is an equally pathetic small boy with curly hair, that finds joy and happiness in playing with his well-endowed green friend.) Anyway, I swear, Singapore is way too miniscule to contain everyone. But anyway he asked me to fix a date for dinner with my army section mates, which i will. Ok, i must admit, mamemoo's a pretty nice chap, and i take back whatever evil ramblings i had, erm, rambled about him, except for the mamemoo part, which is unfortunately the blatent truth.

Went back to the Bedok library and found none of the books i was looking for, hence had to contend with borrowing 2 books, Yann Martel's life of pi, and Helen Fielding's bridget jones' diary. Currently starting on Martel's book. Real original stuff. It's like the little prince kind of book, lots of stuff to ponder about, though it's just a simple story.

Arrived at a studio at commonwealth in the evening to meet up with tim and matt and erm, what's his name again i kinda forgot(sorry), for a jamming session. We played absolute crap, but so does britney spears, come to think of it. At least we had fun. A hell lot of it. After that decided to go for dinner, but as our classmates probably know, we have the worst decision making skills in history and hence spent a few hours aimlessly travelling. Ended up in Siglap, where we had dinner at 11pm at Cafe Cartel. Went to 7-11 to get a bottle of breezer before catching a cab home.

Recuperated at home today. Ok for those reading this blog who are single, desporate, depressed, envious, and realise that there's not a damn thing you can do about it, here's a quick 2 step guide on how to inflict more pain on yourself. I executed it this afternoon and thus can safely say it is now tried, tested and proven. Firstly, i grabbed some snacks and rewatched the movie, love actually, on dvd. To me, it's one of the best movies i've ever seen, but OUCH. And finally, top it all off by going for a jog at bedok reservoir, taking note of the surroundings, particularly noting the couples revelling in the beauty of the 6pm sun, or the couples cycling together, or the couples holding each other's hands while doing warm up stretches so as to maintain their balance. OUCH, OUCH, OUCH.

Well, this week's the final intake, the last batch of people who'll be admitted into Resort de Tekong. To all those who'll be enlisting today or tomorrow, especially Tim, Matt, Eugene, take care. It ain't gonna be easy, but if an unfit slobber like me can make it through, albeit half dead, shouldn't be a problem for you guys. I'll cya after your confinement period.

'Running in circles, coming in tales, heads are a science apart; nobody said it was easy, it's such a shame for us to part...'
