monkeycrap's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The future is an opaque mirror. Anyone who tries to look into it sees nothing but the dim outlines of an old and worried face.

What a week. In a nutshell, i went into camp elated thanks to my extended holiday, but realised that i'd miss the fastcraft to tekong by 2 mins. Booked in late, and well, signed myself a guard duty. Yes. Return to the place where you get an exclusive one night stay on beds filled with a rojak of evaporating human bodily fluids. The place where you realise that you don't have to be on fear factor to have bugs crawling over your entire body. Including the inner realms. So you could imagine the amount of despair. Basically i dragged myself around camp for 3 days. However, by some wicked stroke of luck, the band auditions happen to be on the guard duty day(saturday). Joy again. But i've to find a replacement, which obviously ain't easy, for the simple reason that no sane human being loves the taste of 7 year old bedsheets filled with recruit abdullah's body salt. Despair. But i found my replacement in the end. My good friend. Joy! Went for the band audition, and realised that if you're combat fit, chances of getting into band is really low. Despair. Played well, praised by audition guy, shortlisted for band. Joy! But still it all depends on whether i'm posted as a combat fit soldier, which is highly likely, so, in the end, all i can say is SIGH.

That was my week. Pretty rollercoastery ain't it. But come to think about it, i've been really lucky ever since i've enlisted. Getting weekends off, sudden off days (which is how i managed to send spike & nut off at the airport), skipping duties here and there. I've been blessed with good friends who're willing to go the extra mile for me too. Maybe its cos i've been a good friend to them as well. I don't know.

But come to think of it, i'm only keeping in touch with a few friends. I'm slowly losing touch with my other friends, one by one. Nobody wins fighting the winds of change, and i'm no exception. But it feels like the typhoons of change, cos it really happens so quickly. Before i know it, my blog address will change to 80yearsoldandstillalivedamnit.diaryland.com.

Ok enough blogging. Goodnight.

Hey now, hey now Don't dream it's over Hey now, hey now When the world comes in They come, they come To build a wall between us We know they won't win...
