'Experience is not what happens to a man; it is what a man does with what happens to him.'---Aldous Huxley

The year, 1991. The location, a small cosy air-conditioned room in a house located in the slightly more rural district in northern Singapore. An old lady sits on a wooden-edged, canvas-based foldable chair, talking to a six year old boy. "Must study hard, boy, go to university, then mama happy. But mama don't think mama can see you go university. Mama old already." Boy replies, "Sure can one la. Sure can!" Boy's grandmother dies that very year.

As the more perceptive of you probably realised, from the cliche-ness of this story, this is one of the snippets of my childhood. And yesterday, as i stood in front of her picture on the altar in the temple to pay my respects, i spoke in my heart, "Mama, its been a very long wait, but i'm here to tell you that i've done it. I've done it."

My apologies for being so overdramatic, for making it sound like the next episode of some lame chinese drama serial with some pathetic title like "The sword of the golden boy". But, well, its my blog.

To those who've done well, congrats! You've just taken your first step towards unemployment. To those who've not, i can't say much for the very simple reason that i don't know exactly how you feel. Nobody will. But whatever the case, hopefully you'll find the strength to move on, to explore the possibilities along the different routes in life. It ain't over till it's over. In the end, you win some, you lose some. Jon Bon Jovi once said that its good to map out your life, but you've to do it in pencil. I'm gonna start getting my liquid paper out.
